Camping Tip #452

When making or tending to a fire, ensure all jacket pockets are securely closed.

Nope, didn’t have a bit of my jacket fall into the fire, in fact, I burned myself while I was standing several feet away from the fire pit.

Somehow, a very hot ember had shot off and landed, inconspicuously, inside of the front left pocket of my fleece jacket. However many minutes later I placed my hand in my pocket to warm it and let off a bit of a shriek.

At first I thought maybe the metal zipper had just become very hot, but then realized there was an orange glowing ember still sitting happy, stuck to, but not actually burning the fleecey pocket. Ouch!
