The weather is making things a bit interesting, although that’s not all that surprising, it is December.
After some somewhat harrowing driving down from Rocky Mountain National Park on Wednesday, driving through 5-8 hours of snowy road conditions to get down to Santa Fe and the rest of New Mexico sounded like a very bad idea.
So for the moment we headed straight east, and klanded back in Hays, Kansas for the night. We had planned to head south rather than take the most direct route back to Maryland, both to avoid retracing our steps, and to go through some spots where it’s warm enough to camp.
At the moment though, the forecast is calling for snow in Texas, and just about everywhere else (from Accuweather.com):

I’ll be spending some quality time with the weather sites and google maps tonight trying to figure this one out, hopefully the cold spell won’t last too long.
